Over 20,000 land mines remained in place in the archipelago after the end of the Falklands War in 1982. Mine clearance has been ongoing since 2009.

Wait, aren’t there still shepherds there? And sheep? Cause, ah, I’m pretty sure sheep are big enough to trigger a land mine…also: what the fuck was Britain doing planting landmines out there? o_O Didn’t they already have a military base that covered like, the entire part of the island that wasn’t covered in sheep?
