Boudica,Celtic warrior queen. Boudica is a completely overlooked figure in history. She is hardly mentioned in any Roman history class, save for a brief note on the ‘Boadicea Revolt’, and she was nearly forgotten and lost to time until very recently. The spelling of her name is variable, from the Roman ‘Boadicea’ to various Celtic forms such as ‘Bodika’. Her story is tragic, defiant, and brilliant. Take a few minutes to look her up, or go to your local library and pick up a book on her and the Icenii tribe. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Dude, I remember watching a documentary about her. She’s a freakin’ badass.
There’s a statue of her in a chariot in London. Because she was awesome.
I went as her (as the “domestic” Queen of the Iceni, not so much the Warrior Queen) for Halloween a few years ago. When I have the time and money I’m gonna do a proper warrior queen getup of her. She was awesome. Even the Romans feared her…they may have crushed her forces in the end, but it took over 20,000 legionnaires and almost a decade to destroy the rebellion.
