Of Paper and Ponies (and Science!)

A rhombic egg eater (Dasypeltis scabra) in the process of swallowing the comparably enormous egg of a blacksmith plover (Vanellus armatus). Egg eaters can disengage their jaws, allowing them to swallow very large eggs whole. Modified vertebrae in the esophagus then puncture and crush the egg, and the snake regurgitates the eggshell.
